Xtra HERO Dread Decimator is a Link-3 monster that you can Link Summon by using two or more HERO monsters as Link Materials. Since any HERO monsters can be used to Link Summon it, it fits into Destiny HERO, Elemental HERO, Evil HERO, Vision HERO, and Masked HERO strategies alike.

If you Summon Xtra HERO Dread Decimator in an Extra Monster Zone, its Link Arrows will point to three of your Main Monster Zones. That’ll open up those zones so that you can Special Summon monsters from your Extra Deck into them. Most HERO strategies heavily rely on Fusion Summoning. Opening up three of your Main Monster Zones so that they can accommodate Fusion Monsters can be critical to one of those strategies.

Even if you don’t take advantage of Xtra HERO Dread Decimator’s Link Arrows to Special Summon additional monsters from your Extra Deck, Dread Decimator can still hold its own while it’s on the field. Xtra HERO Dread Decimator has 2500 ATK to start and gains an extra 100 ATK for each HERO monster with a different name in your Graveyard. Plus, Dread Decimator will give the same ATK boost to any HERO monster it points to.

By just having a couple of HERO monsters in your Graveyard, Xtra HERO Dread Decimator’s effect will be able to contribute a lot of extra ATK to your field. That’s because it can give an ATK boost to as many as 4 monsters on your field at once, including itself!

Xtra HERO Dread Decimator’s final effect allows it to inflict piercing damage if it attacks a Defense Position monster. With 2500 ATK to start and an effect that allows its ATK to increase limitlessly, this effect allows Xtra HERO Dread Decimator to decimate your opponent when your opponent is trying to protect his or her Life Points with a Defense Position monster.

Xtra HERO Dread Decimator is a useful Link Monster that can expand any HERO-based strategy. It opens up Main Monster Zones for Fusion Summons, increases the ATK of HERO monsters to which it’s Linked, raises its own ATK to extraordinary heights, and inflicts piercing damage.
