In a world full of superheroes and villains, all sporting powerful abilities known as Quirks, Izuku Midoriya is an anomaly. Born Quirkless, Izuku still harbors dreams of one day becoming a hero, despite the steep odds against him. However, a fateful encounter with the hero All Might gives him a chance to change his destiny…

NEWFOUND POWER

Despite not possessing any Quirk powers, Izuku’s determined to make it into the prestigious U.A. High School to partake in the Hero Program. But does he really stand a chance? All that changes when All Might decides to make Izuku his successor after witnessing the powerless boy bravely confront a Villain to save his childhood friend/rival Katsuki Bakugo.

Though All Might at first seems unbelievably heroic and strong, he harbors a secret that Izuku soon learns. All Might is weakening, and his Quirk, One for All, can only last for a limited time each day! As for his real appearance...

All Might’s true identity and weakness is only known to a select few heroes and friends. With his powers declining because of a grave injury from a fight five years ago, All Might needs to find a successor to carry on his legacy. He thinks he finds one in Izuku. However, since Izuku’s too frail for All Might’s Quirk, he’ll need to undergo some intense training to build up his strength and enter U.A. High.

THE ENTRANCE EXAM

After training rigorously for ten months, Izuku’s finally strong enough to take in All Might’s One for All Quirk, and he does so by eating a strand of All Might’s hair. However, one big problem remains: he’s still not strong or experienced enough to control the powerful Quirk!

On the day of the exam, Izuku must compete with other hopefuls in a ten-minute simulated battle against artificial Villains. The candidates that rack up the most points (each Villain is assigned a certain number of points) stand a higher chance of gaining acceptance. Because he still doesn’t know how to use All Might’s Quirk, a dejected Izuku ends the trial with zero points! But he does have one thing in his favor...his heroic dash to save a fellow competitor to the detriment of his exam results and physical well-being!

HERO CRASH COURSE

Against all odds, Izuku makes it into U.A. High because of his courageous rescue effort. And the good news keeps rolling in when Izuku finds out that one of his teachers will be none other than All Might! Plus, the girl he saved at the entrance exams, Ochako Uraraka, is also his classmate in Class 1-A! The only downer is that he’s not the only one from his middle school to make it into U.A. His rival, Katsuki Bakugo, is also in his class and not too happy about Izuku being there...

Although Katsuki is overwhelmingly stronger than Izuku, he views his childhood friend as a rival he must utterly defeat. On the first day of class, Class 1-A homeroom teacher Shota Aizawa gives his students a Quirk Apprehension Test to measure their abilities. Because of his inexperience with his Quirk, Izuku decides to hold back until the very end. On his final chance to prove himself, Izuku has a breakthrough. While throwing a softball as far as he can, he learns how to focus his power on the very tip of his finger, allowing him to throw the ball as far as Katsuki.

The next day brings no relief for the students of Class 1-A as they are put to a Battle Trial. Fittingly, Izuku is paired up with Ochako and must face off against Katsuki and class president Tenya Ida! Because of Katsuki’s fiery temperament, he charges full force at Izuku, leaving Tenya behind. Izuku knows he can’t fully control his power, but he can manipulate the battle to his advantage because he can read Katsuki’s moves. Because of this, Izuku and Ochako unexpectedly win the match, much to Katsuki’s chagrin!

Last but not least, the students of Class 1-A must undergo a simulated rescue mission at a remote location. But before the trial begins, the Villain Alliance, an organization of nefarious criminals intent on eradicating All Might, attacks. However, All Might’s nowhere to be found! The students of Class 1-A prove their mettle and fend off the attacks, but one massively strong Villain is too much for the teachers and students to handle. Thankfully, All Might appears and confronts the Villain. The two fight on even ground, but the tide turns in the heroes’ favor when backup finally arrives.

THE STORY THUS FAR...

Despite the attack, life at U.A. High continues. Up next for the students of Class 1-A, who are now famous for having fought and survived the invasion, is the school’s Sports Festival! And this is no ordinary sporting event. Its prestige rivals that of the Olympics and is seen as a chance for the students to distinguish themselves!

Having gained the lead after winning the Obstacle Course, Izuku is now the hunted heading into the second event—the Human Cavalry battle! Each team member wears a headband with a designated number of points, with the first place contestant’s headband being worth a whopping ten million points! Currently, Katsuki is in a rage because his headband was taken by Monoma of Class 1-B...
