VIDEO GAME: ONE PIECE of Advice

SJA Editor Urian Brown gives his extremely valuable opinion on One Piece: Pirate Warriors!
By April 12, 2012

While I was out yesterday getting eye surgery (just got my Sharingan put in), the news broke that One Piece: Pirate Warriors is coming to the States. Beyond the inherent radness of this game getting a Stateside release, something many thought would not happen, this game is special for a few reasons.

One, it's pretty much Dynasty Warriors with One Piece characters! Which is a match made in otaku heaven! Basically, you get to mow down wave after wave of enemies using One Piece characters armed with a dazzling array of over-the-top super attacks. And if that doesn't sound like fun, you should throw yourself overboard right now.

Second, it shows the power of fandom. Since the first trailer, there's been a strong buzz around this game, and fans have been clamoring for it. When a fan asked me if I thought it would be released in the States, I told 'em if they released Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage, which has less of a fanbase than One Piece, there's always a chance. (Kenshiro fans, this would be the appropriate time to flame me in the comments field.) I also told 'em, if you want the game, tell Namco! The more people making noise, the more likely someone important will hear it.

And lastly, (here's the one piece of advice bit) it gives you guys a chance to get more One Piece games over here. But this part's up to you. If you want more games like this, show Namco by buying it! You can't argue with sales numbers. If they're poor, there goes your chance for more One Piece games. If they're great, your chances for more One Piece, or anime games in general, being released here will go up. Essentially, it's up to you!

And that's my super important opinion!

Hope you enjoyed it!
