VIDEO GAME: Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance Review

If your heart's dream is to explore Disney kingdoms in 3D, then drop some dough and go the distance!

The Kingdom Hearts franchise continues in a new installment on the Nintendo 3DS with Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Combining some of the hottest franchises by Disney and Square Enix, set against beautiful art, encased in a dreamy fantasy world, KH 3D is at its heart an action RPG.

Two boys, Sora and Riku are to take a test to become Keyblade Masters in order to stop their Nemesis Xehanort (whom I call Darth Voldemort). Their test sets them into two parallel worlds, with their individual stories played separately via the drop system. You will switch between Sora and Riku through the game and see each character’s individual journey simultaneously.

Basically, you have to play each level twice. And in each level, you'll run around like crazy in “flow motion” beating up baddies with your Keyblades and casting spells from Final Fantasy. The "flow motion" system allows you to use structures in your environment to unlock more powerful moves in battle. For instance, you can swing around a lightpost and fly off right into an enemy for a ton of extra damage.

You will also catch Dream Eaters. You can add up to three Dream Eaters to your party and level them up as they fight for you or just play Nintendogs with them (pet them to make them love you more). Fans of Disney and Kingdom Hearts will not want to miss this game. It will tide you over until Square Enix makes the proper sequel everybody's been waiting for. And If you like fast-paced battle-centric action RPGs, this 3DS title should also satisfy.

Hint: Many treasures and battles are dependent on using flow motion. Practice the flow motion moves till you drop!
