Adult bib wearer and SJ Editor Urian Brown takes a look at this week's issue.
Cover
art by Shun Saeki
What a dramatic cover! The look of determination on Soma's face! The clenched fist! The bad guy bathed in evil purplish light! The rest of the characters with looks of intense emotions. And the angry pink cat stuffed animal! With huge hands and tiny nubs for feet. Uhhh...I kind of want one of those.
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma
story by Yuto Tsukuda, art by Shun Saeki, contributor Yuki Morisaki
The Shokugeki is heating up! Soma's definitely going to have to pull a culinary rabbit out of a hat if he wants to win over all the bribed judges. And by the looks on their faces so far, he's on to something. But the bigger question is: what is the secret ingredient that can take pot stickers to a level that no one has ever dreamed of? What could it be?!
My Hero Academia
by Kohei Horikoshi
The Pussycats have taken over training the kids and although they look super cuddly, they're anything but! In fact, it looks like the U.A. High students are about to enter the hellish segment of their journey to becoming a hero! But before all that--it's time for a trip to the bathhouse! Get ready for antics!
Black Clover
by Yûki Tabata
The fight to save the kidnapped children continues! Although Asta and his newfound allies have got the first punch in, the battle is far from over! Plus, we still don't know who the bad guys are working for and why? Time for some fighting peppered with bits of exposition! The perfect recipe for a Shonen Jump chapter!
Nisekoi
by Naoshi Komi
Much to Raku's chagrin, the "fake" date with Chitoge ends up continuing. First she dragged him around an amusement park, which ironically he did not find that amusing, and now it's a chance encounter at the ramen shop! Will he survive the day? But more importantly, can she make his clueless eyes turn her way?
Bleach
by Tite Kubo
The Soul Reaper captains and assistant captains have a big problem. A very, very big problem. In fact, this problem towers over all others and makes them look and feel positively small by comparison. I won't ruin the surprise, but I will say, they're going to need a bigger Bankai.
Toriko
by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
Grab some tissues or keep your BFF handy for emotional support, because it's a heartbreaking chapter! Some of the things resolved in this chapter will definitely bring on the feels.
World Trigger
by Daisuke Ashihara
Galopoula has attacked Border HQ! The first wave has made their approach to the main building! But the Border HQ is filled with agents of every rank. Why would they attack the strongest congregation of Meeden power? Could they have an ace up their sleeve?
One-Punch Man
story by ONE, art by Yusuke Murata
A short, but sweet chapter of One-Punch Man! Just when it seemed Metal Bat had the situation under control, a new enemy appears!
YuYu Hakusho
by Yoshihiro Togashi
Yusuke's life has gone to hell—literally! After his heroic and tragic death, he's been given another shot a life. Sort of. But before he can come back, he's got to go to the underworld and meet some of its top brass. This manga really hits ya in the old ticker in the beginning. There is copious amounts of tender scenes involving Yusuke's friends and family trying to deal with his loss. Togashi Sensei sure knows how to get his audience. Very impressive!
Extras: Bundles Bonanza, The Last: Naruto the Movie announcement, Author Comments, Nihongo Lesson.
