Sentient piece of cheese and SJ Editor Urian Brown takes a look at this week's issue.
Cover
art by Eiichiro Oda
All aboard the S.S. Shonen Jump for fair skies, fun and adventure! Now here's a happy cover that should put a smile on your face no matter how bad your day is going. And a neat bit of art, as well. Check that crazy bend of the horizon and that lens flare. Super cheery covers are the best!
One Piece
by Eiichiro Oda
Big Mom gets her cake and gets to eat it too! She's been on a destructive rampage for quite a few chapters after the Straw Hats destroyed her original cake. But this new cake didn't come from the grocery store bakery, it's a special one made by Sanji. But what did he put in it? Did he poison her? Put her to sleep? Find out in a most hilarious and super double triple crazy chapter!
The Promised Neverland
story by Kaiu Shirai, art by Posuka Demizu
The fight between the demons and the kids has intensified and it's starting to look bad for the little ones. They're tough, determine and have a well thought out plan, but these demons are, well, demons. They're super strong, have incredible agility, heightened senses and armor. The fight is far from over, but the tension is definitely rising!
Ziga
story by Rokurou Sano, art by Kentarou Hidano
It's the final JUMP START chapter of Ziga! This monstrous manga lumbered into SJ with all the fury and destructive power of a giant monster, or kaiju! It was violent, scary, funny and intense. A lot of things! It will definitely be remembered and if you liked it, make sure to fill out the survey and tell us!
My Hero Academia
by Kohei Horikoshi
The battle between Deku and Gentle has been full of surprises. The first surprise was Gentle's wacky quirk of turning anything elastic, including air itself. The second surprise was how useful that Quirk actually is in a fight. He's been giving Deku a hard time and Deku's not an ordinary student at U.A., he's been thoroughly battle tested. The chapter takes the fight to the next level when Gentle reveals even more uses for his seemingly silly, but super powerful ability!
We Never Learn
by Taishi Tsutsui
When Ogata goes to a slightly eccentric, overly enthusiastic hairdresser she learns something quite extraordinary--Yuiga doesn't recognize her! As you can imagine, this leads to a series of thoroughly hilarious situations. Another side-splitting chapter coming up!
Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma
story by Yuto Tsukuda, art by Shun Saeki, contributor Yuki Morisaki
Soma and Erina are in the frying pan now as they have to cook up something so delicious the very biased judge Dean Azami must admit it's better than his own chef's dish. Soma's been known to zig left when everybody thought he was gonna zig right. But will his maverick nature be enough to overcome this challenge? Or will Dean Azami win and crush food freedom forever!
Robot x Laserbeam
by Tadatoshi Fujimaki
Happy one-year anniversary, Robo-kun! Surviving one year in Weekly Shonen Jump is incredibly difficult. Juggling flaming chainsaws is probably easier. But Tadatoshi Sensei has defied the odds again (his previous manga was Kuroko's Basketball) and made through his first year. Here's to many more!
Dr. Stone
story by Riichiro Inagaki, art by Boichi
Senku's still determined to make cell phones! Despite basically living in the stone age, he's going forward with his bold plan to defeat Tsukasa's army with superior communication abilities! Although it sounds far-fetched, Senku is a genius and when he makes his mind up to do something, nothing stops him. The big question is, are mobile apps next?
Black Clover
by Yûki Tabata
Fighting super powerful evil foes is hard enough, but what about when they're your friends too? You can't exactly kill someone who's your previous teammate that's been possessed against their will. That's exactly the case for Asta, and this fight may be one he can't swing his way out of. Tough times in the Clover Kingdom!
Hunter x Hunter
by Yoshihiro Togashi
It's the last chapter of Hunter x Hunter for a while, but it's a doozy! Togashi Sensei turns in some art in this chapter that will blow you away. Some absolutely inspired panels. And some characters we haven't seen in a long time make an appearance. While we won't see a new chapter for a while, we can always imagine the Black Whale chugging along with a big smile on its face until the manga returns.
Extras: Author Comments, Nihongo Lesson.
