Legendary Duelists is an exciting set for any Yu-Gi-Oh! fan. It shouts out several legendary Duelists from the original series and beyond, giving a modern twist to their signature themes. Joey Wheeler managed to defeat Rex Raptor in Duelist Kingdom to win the Red-Eyes B. Dragon, and from there on it became his ace monster. The Red-Eyes theme is all about unlocking potential, and in Legendary Duelists, there are a few new cards that give the strategy a totally new way to ramp things up!

Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight is a callback to the classic Gearfried the Iron Knight with a Red-Eyes twist. At Level 4 with 1800 ATK and 1600 DEF, it is easy to Normal Summon and is strong enough to stand on its own. Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight synergizes with equip cards. Once per turn if either player equips an Equip Card to Gearfried, you can destroy the Equip Card to destroy a Spell/Trap your opponent controls! But there's more! Once per turn, you can send an Equip Card that is equipped to Gearfried to Special Summon a Level 7 or lower “Red-Eyes” monster from your Graveyard! Bringing back a huge Dragon from your Graveyard is always going to be powerful, but what the next card allows you to do with that Dragon is potentially devastating.

Red-Eyes Slash Dragon is a Level 7 Fusion with a massive 2800 ATK and 2400 DEF. It requires Red-Eyes B. Dragon and any Warrior for its Fusion Materials, but thanks to Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight, it’s pretty easy to get the materials on the field. Whenever a Red-Eyes declares an attack, you can target a Warrior in your Graveyard and equip it to Red-Eyes Slash Dragon, which will boost its ATK by 200. Why do you want to equip cards to Red-Eyes Slash Dragon? When a card or effect is activated that targets a card you control, you can send an Equip Card to the Graveyard to negate the activation and destroy it! By loading up Red-Eyes Slash Dragon with Equip Cards, you can boost its ATK and protect your cards. Even if Red-Eyes Slash Dragon is destroyed, you can Special Summon all of the monsters that were equipped to it from the Graveyard! Red-Eyes Slash Dragon is already hard to deal with, but that last effect ensures that even if your opponent does manage to get rid of it, you still get a big payoff.
