We command you to read this week's Nihongo Lesson!
Welcome to the Nihongo Lesson feature. We strive to give you useful manga-based Japanese language tips and maybe even a glimpse into the translation process. This week’s lesson will focus on some handy tips for dealing with werewolves featured in Love Rush! If you’re ever attacked by a werewolf like Tsukimi, give these a try. It couldn’t hurt, right…?
OTE (おて)
OTE or TE means “hand” and is the command given to dogs when you want them to place their paw on your hand. This command somehow works even on angry werewolves. Who knew?!
OSUWARI (おすわり)
OSUWARI means “sit.” This is a great command for when your dog is getting too excited, or when a werewolf is trying to kiss you. In Love Rush!, kissing a supernatural being is the same as marrying them, so this command is very useful!
MATE (まて)
MATE means to “wait,” or in this context, “stay.” This might be the first command you should use when a werewolf is about to jump you.
FUSE (ふせ)
FUSE means “get down.” Using this command gave Reiji time to back off while Tsukimi was immobilized. Reiji really is lucky that this werewolf has such an obvious weakness!
