Get moving with this week's lesson!
Welcome to the Nihongo Lesson feature. We strive to give you useful manga-based Japanese language tips and maybe even a glimpse into the translation process. This week’s lesson will focus on the ingenious series that is Dr. Stone. Senku has been cranking out one impressive creation after another as he works to revive civilization. His next challenge is to build a car to help transport supplies to Tsukasa’s base, but what he ends up creating is so much more!
JIDOUSHA (じどうしゃ)
JIDOUSHA means “automobile.” Last week’s chapter showed all the complicated steps Senku had to go through to put together his dream machine. He even risked straining his neck. But the effort was well worth it! Everyone in the village is amazed by the new invention, especially all the men! He really needs to add some racing stripes though.
DENSHA (でんしゃ)
DENSHA is “train.” The JIDOUSHA that Senku created seems to be more like a steam-powered DENSHA. It’s got the power of a gorilla, but it looks like it still needs some improvements. It’ll sure be exciting to see all the upgrades Senku adds in the coming chapter as he transforms it into a tank!
