The 2017 Mega-Tins are packed full of cards! Not only do you get three 16-card Mega-Packs, featuring some of the best cards from Shining Victories, The Dark Illusion, Invasion: Vengeance and Raging Tempest, you also get five foil promo cards and a foil Token! The promo cards you receive depends on whether you pick the Yugi Muto or Seto Kaiba-themed 2017 Mega-Tin, but both include the easiest monster to Link Summon yet: Proxy Dragon.

Understanding the best way to use Link Monsters will give you a major edge in the new Dueling era. Whether your strategy is focused around the Extra Deck or not, Link Summoning is a great way to get the most out of your monsters. Link Monsters are some of the easiest Extra Deck Monsters to Summon, and if you have monsters that get a bonus when they hit the Graveyard, then Link Summoning is definitely something you want to try. Proxy Dragon uses any two monsters as its Link Materials. Its 1400 ATK isn’t too strong, but its key feature is the ease with which you can Summon it. Any Duelist that plays a card like Mind Control can take their opponent’s best monster and combine it with any of their own monsters to Summon Proxy Dragon!

When a card(s) you control would be destroyed, Proxy Dragon can destroy one of the monsters it points to instead! While it only has arrows pointing directly to the left and right, protecting a key monster, Spell, or Trap can make or break a Duel. You can even have Proxy Dragon destroy something with a Graveyard effect to get some extra value. If you want to use it in this way, you’ll need to use another Link Monster first to free up a Main Monster Zone to Summon Proxy Dragon in. The easiest way to do this is with Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow. Special Summon it and its Tokens, then use one Token to Link Summon Link Spider and the other Token and Gofu to Summon Proxy Dragon.

Proxy Dragon can use any face-up monsters as Materials, but not all Materials are created equally! If you have a monster that will Summon another monster when it is sent to the Graveyard like Reborn Tengu, Proxy Dragon makes a great stepping stone to a stronger Link Monster. By sending two Link Materials to the Graveyard, including Reborn Tengu, to Link Summon it, you will get to Summon another Reborn Tengu, and then with Proxy Dragon at LINK-2 and that other monster now on the field, you can have the necessary materials to Link Summon a LINK-3, like Decode Talker! The possibilities are endless!
