Rosario+Vampire: Season II by Akihisa Ikeda is the story of Tsukune Aono, an average-as-you-can-get human who accidently enrolls at Yokai Academy, a boarding school...for monsters! Despite his human-ness, Tsukune remains a student and stays alive by hiding his identity with the help of his attractive yet monstrous friends, including the far-from-average vampire Moka Akashiya.

Now Tsukune and friends confront Fairy Tale, a mysterious organization that threatens to destroy the tenuous division between both the monster and human worlds.

Volume 8 starts with Tsukune, Mizore, and Tohofuhai entering Moka’s mind where they discover her tragic past. When Moka’s true identity is revealed, Tsukune faces a heartbreaking reality. The girl he loves is not who he thinks she is. Meanwhile, Tsukune’s friends outside of Moka’s mind battle Aqua Shuzen, an assassin from Fairy Tale and Moka’s sister. Rosario+Vampire: Season II offers something for everyone no matter the genre preference and is packed with excitement.

This volume definitely changes the way I look at Rosario+Vampire. There were so many twists I did not see coming, and these new revelations will definitely reshape the series. I was unable to put this volume down! In the end, I cried because the story was so heartbreaking and wonderful.

If tear-jerking scenes and intense plot twists weren’t enough to get your heart pumping, then the incredible action scenes will. The fights always introduce something new and completely unexpected. Each epic battle that takes place is packed with incredible martial-arts moves and bloodthirsty vampires. All of the cutthroat battles left me at the edge of my seat. This volume is definitely a must read for any shonen fan.

Rosario+Vampire: Season II also has incredibly beautiful artwork. Ikeda Sensei does a great job of drawing emotion and scenery. The characters are so detailed that I felt like I could reach out and touch them. The scenery is also full of realism, which drew me into Moka and Tsukune’s world. I found it easy to get immersed in the story since the scenes were so beautiful. It’s like reading manga in HD!

What will become of Moka and Tsukune’s relationship? Will they be able to withstand the truth behind Moka’s Rosario? Find out in Rosario+Vampire Season II volume 8 on sale April 8.
