Ageha Yoshina is in for the fight of his life... In fact, it's a fight for everyone's lives! When his classmate Sakurako Amamiya mysteriously disappears, he goes searching for her whereabouts and somehow finds himself entangled in a strange game of survival set in a dystopic world. Though he finds Amamiya and is able to bring her back, the game doesn't end. At first, he's an unwilling participant and vows to confront the game's creator. But as he delves deeper and deeper into the game, he and his fellow Psyren participants learn that the dystopic world they've been traveling back-and-forth to is actually Japan's future!

The game is no longer a simple game of survival for Ageha. He's now on a mission to find out what happens to Japan and if there's a chance he can change the course of the future for the better. And it seems like he's nearing his goal when he rescues the game's creator from the clutches of a rogue group of survivors led by Usui, the phony cop that tried to shake Ageha down for his Psyren card.

After rescuing the creator of Nemesis Q, the program that made time travel possible, Ageha learns of her tragic past spent as an orphan and research subject due to her incredible psionic powers. He also learns the shocking reason behind why she created Nemesis Q in the first place (to find out, you gotta read the volume!).

In spite of all the troubles she's caused Ageha and his friends, he does have one request for her: He wants to find out where his missing friends, Oboro Mochizuki and Hiryu Asaga. Though Oboro's alive and well, a strong energy field surrounding him prevents Ageha from getting into contact with him. However, he is able to communicate with Hiryu, who tells Ageha to go ahead without him since he's now involved in a different mission with a rogue Taboo called Kusakabe and his childhood friend Tatsuo, who was also transmogrified into a Taboo as well.

Knowing that their friends are alive, Ageha and Amamiya decide to head back to the present-day world. When he does return, he's surprised at the commotion they've caused due to their absence of ten days. The media's hounding his family, and to make matters worse, the police now want to question him with regards to the still-missing Oboro Mochizuki.

To get away from the media scrutiny and police surveillance, Ageha and the other psionists take refuge at Elmore Wood orphanage's mansion.

But before Ageha and Amamiya can proceed with saving their world, there's someone they want to see first. Find out who in the latest volume of Psyren!
