Ever think your life would be all rosy if you had all the cute girls in class fighting over you? Think again, buddy! Raku Ichijo wants to lead a normal life, but he's got two things keeping him from his long-desired peace of mind: 1. He comes from a notorious yakuza family, and 2. He's caught in a false relationship with Chitoge, their rival gang's boss's daughter, in order to keep the peace between the two feuding factions. With that said, he's got an even bigger problem—his current crush Onodera thinks he's head-over-heels in love with Chitoge! But there's more! Not trusting the relationship between the two, Chitoge's gangster bodyguard sends in a trained assassin to watch over Raku like a hawk. And it's not just any assassin he's dealing with, it's an assassin obsessed with Chitoge!

Eager to test Raku's manhood, the assassin Tsugumi challenges him to a schoolyard fight. Sounds simple enough, but simplicity gets thrown out the window when Tsugumi whips out the heavy artillery. Despite the odds stacked against him, Raku comes through in the clutch and actually wins! But, as is always the case, he finds himself in a...sticky situation when he's trapped inside a locker with the opponent he just defeated!

In the aftermath of his epic battle against Tsugumi, poor Raku's caught a cold. And like a good (false) girlfriend, Chitoge comes over to help him through his time of need. And in an unexpected twist, Onodera also decides to show up to help nurse Raku back to health. With perhaps two of the world's worst cooks by his side, Raku must test his resolve and courage when he confronts their culinary abominations in the form of some rice porridge...

Raku gets better, and just in time for the school trip to a hot springs bath! As luck would have it, Raku finds himself in a group consisting of Chitoge, Tsugumi, Onodera, Ruri, and the ever-mischievous Shu. 

Just like telling scary stories by the campfire, Japan has a scary tradition of their own! Kimodameshi is a test a courage, usually located in scary, secluded locations. In this volume, the students are paired off and must walk through the forest at night while others try to scare the crap out of them. This time around, Raku luckily gets paired with Onodera for the test of courage, but he finds himself in a conundrum after he learns Chitoge, who is scared to be by herself in dark, secluded areas, is off by herself to be a ghost.
