MANGA: NARUTO Vol.60 Review

It's a Biju Royal Rumble! The Fourth Great Ninja War turns into a monster mash!
By February 15, 2013

The story started with an outcast: Naruto Uzumaki was an orphan shunned by the villagers of Konoha for being the jinchûriki of the ferocious Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, Kurama. In their fear and anger, they saw Naruto as the same savage beast that razed Konoha.

Naruto and Kurama’s relationship was a turbulent one. Kurama never minced words about how much he hates humanity. He resented being restrained or used as a weapon for humans. He provoked Naruto time and time again in an attempt to regain control and destroy the land once more.

As a result, Naruto was taught that the Nine Tails is dangerous and has to remain imprisoned by the seal. With things being the way they were, true teamwork—like the friendship between Killer Bee and the Eight Tails—seemed impossible.

Fast forward to the battlefield of the Fourth Great Ninja War. Naruto faces off against six biju who have been raised from the dead by the masked Madara. Not only have they been resurrected against their will, they're also linked to Madara through numerous chakra receiving rods, similar to the ones the Akatsuki member, Pain, used.  Having already exhausted most of his chakra aiding the multiple battlefronts, Naruto finds himself in danger of losing the battle—and being eaten to boot!

The situation is bleak. Naruto hangs on to the remaining shreds of his chakra and Madara seems poised to win. Naruto's only hope is Kurama—but can he put aside his stubborness and lifelong hatred in order to save his jinchûriki brethren? Does he truly believe that Naruto can vanquish the hatred he holds inside? And is Naruto really the savior that Kurama and the biju have all been waiting for?

And while Naruto and his biju struggle to put aside their differences, another threat steps onto the battlefield—Sasuke Uchiha! What will his role in this battle be?!

Find out all the thrilling details in Naruto volume 60!
