MANGA: BARRAGE Vol.1 Review

A boy from the slums gains an ancient power strong enough to conquer worlds in Volume 1 of Barrage!
By October 04, 2012

The planet Industria is in chaos! With aliens fighting for control of the planet and the Royal Family’s influence greatly diminished due to an aging king and an irresponsible prince—bandits, assassins, warlords and lawlessness reign.

Astro, a boy from the slums, and an exact lookalike to the assassinated prince, is now the only one who can wield the royal relic, the Orgue. With the help of the honorable Knight Tiamat, they must restore order and peace to this war-torn world on their quest to re-conquer Industria.

Having lost his job after being provoked by an alien diplomat, Astro can no longer support the family of orphans he adopts from the slums of his own childhood. However, the selfish prince of Industria, Prince Barrage, makes him an offer he literally cannot refuse. Both Barrage and Astro are, by some coincidence, identical in appearance and voice, and Barrage wishes to use Astro as a decoy to shirk his royal responsibilities. Before the royal guards come to haul Prince Barrage back to the castle, Barrage slaps the royal relic on Astro’s arm, marking him as Industria’s prince.

But when the real prince is assassinated, and the royal relic, the Orgue, awakens for Astro in combat with hostile aliens, the King ofIndustria sends Astro, armed with the power of the Orgue, and his best knight, Tiamat, on a quest to re-conquer the entire planet and put an end to the Warring Planets Period.

Astro: A boy from the slums who cares deeply for his adopted family of street children, Astro is forced to take on the role of a Prince when the real Prince Barrage switched places with him. Now Astro, armed with the Orgue, intends to restore order to the planet by protecting both his family and all families on Industria.

Tiamat: The greatest knight of Industria is tasked with escorting Astro (who is travelling under the guise of Prince Barrage) on his quest to restore order to the planet. A master swordsman and tactician, Tiamat suffers from both a fear of women and the frustration of mentoring the would-be Prince.

Barrage is the first manga series to both start and finish within the pages of SJ Alpha. If you missed out on the fast-paced battles against powerful aliens and dark forces in the name of family, then don’t miss out on the recent release of Barrage vol.1!
