Let's D-D-Duel!

Dominate your Duels with these incredible cards!

1215 Ygo 1The first new cards of 2017 are in the Pendulum Domination Structure Deck that hits shelves on January 20. Pendulum Domination helps pull together the D/D cards into one masterful strategy that’s a sight to behold, but if you want it to run at maximum efficiency you’ll want to pick up a few cards from this year first! Here are some of the most important cards to get your hands on right now and where you can find them.

D/D/D Flame King Genghis is one of the most important monsters you can put into your Extra Deck. It’s so useful that you might even want to Summon more than one in a given Duel! D/D/D Gust King Alexander is a Synchro Monster with a similar ability to Special Summon an extra monster from your Graveyard when you Special Summon a “D/D” monster. Pendulum Domination has multiple “D/D” Tuner monsters making Alexander a much more practical choice in 2017. Genghis is in every Yugi & Slifer 2016 Mega-Tin and Alexander is in every Kaiba & Obelisk 2016 Mega-Tin.

Most of your Fusion Summons will be conducted using either D/D Swirl Slime or D/D Necro Slime. Swirl Slime also has a useful secondary ability that lets you Special Summon a “D/D” monster from your hand, which can in turn trigger the Special Summon abilities of Genghis or Alexander. You can find the Slimes as Commons from either Dimension of Chaos or the 2016 Mega-Tin Mega-Packs.

D/D/D Oracle King d’Arc is a useful Fusion Monster for when you’re in for a long haul. “Dark Contract” cards sap away your Life Points, inflicting damage to you during each of your Standby Phases. This monster changes those effects to make you gain LP instead, so you get all of the benefits of your Contract plus a bonus on top of it! The Oracle King is a Rare from either Clash of Rebellions or the 2016 Mega-Tin Mega-Packs.

One good monster to Summon from your hand with D/D Swirl Slime’s effect is D/D Savant Thomas. It lets you destroy a “D/D” card in your Pendulum Zone to Summon a Level 8 “D/D/D” monster from your Deck. Pendulum Domination has multiple monsters that fit that bill, so you’ll want to check out The Dark Illusion again to find D/D Savant Thomas, which is a Rare.

“D/D/D” monsters are also “D/D” monsters, and since you’re Summoning multiple Level 8 “D/D” monsters per Duel, you’ll want to have at least one copy of the 3500 ATK Rank 8 D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga in your Extra Deck! It’s a Super Rare from either Dimension of Chaos or the 2016 Mega-Tin Mega-Packs, and it blanks every other card on the field during the turn its Summoned, negating their effects and preventing them from even being used. Kali Yuga also lets you detach an Xyz Material during either player’s turn to wipe the field clean of Spell and Trap Cards or detach during your own turn to reuse a “Dark Contract” from your Graveyard.

Seeing the D/D Deck in action is a beautiful thing, and you’ll want to make sure you’re looking at it from the driver’s seat when Pendulum Domination launches early next year. The cards listed here are not in the Structure Deck, so it’s important to start hunting for them now so you’ll be ready in January!
