Enhance your existing Deck with these cards!

By John Bae November 17, 2016

We’ve talked a lot about new themes and Decks you can make with the cards from Invasion: Vengeance, but what about cards you can use anywhere? There are plenty of those, too! From powerful Trap Cards to Synchro Monsters with no specific material requirements, Invasion: Vengeance has a wealth of cards that can enhance existing Decks.

Karma Cut was a popular Trap Card for a long time for its ability to banish monsters. Paleozoic Dinomischus is similar but trades wiping out extra copies of a targeted monster out of the Graveyard for the ability to target any face-up card! One of the big gaps in Karma Cut’s coverage was its inability to attack the Pendulum Zones or Trap Cards like Vanity’s Emptiness, but Paleozoic Dinomischus plugs that gap and can be Summoned as a monster later in the Duel!

Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended may not look the part of a card that can go in any Deck owing to its status as a Ritual Monster, but it definitely is one! It’s got a great effect if you go through the effort to Ritual Summon it, but there’s no need to do that because you can discard it from your hand like Effect Veiler or Maxx “C” for an excellent protective effect! If one of your monsters is targeted by a card or a monster effect you can discard Sauravis to negate the activation of that card or effect. It’s great for dodging effects like that of ABC-Dragon Buster.

Vermillion Dragon Mech fills a hole that’s existed in Extra Decks for years. It’s the first Level 9 Synchro Monster that doesn’t need any specific materials, doesn’t need more than two materials and can actively and independently do something immediately after Summoning it. In this case, that something is banishing a Tuner from your hand, field or Graveyard to destroy any card on the field. Furthermore, if the Mech is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard you get one of your banished Tuners back. It’s a remarkably card economy-friendly Synchro Monster, and it packs a punch to boot!

Dimensional Barrier plays on the “split dimensions” theme of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V, allowing you to choose a “dimension” (Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Pendulum) and then prevent that kind of monster from being Special Summoned for an entire turn! Monsters of that kind already on the field have their effects negated for the turn as long as they stay on the field as well. Chaining this card to a Ritual Spell or an effect that would cause a Fusion Summon is absolutely brutal, as is leaving your opponent with filled Pendulum Zones without the flood of Pendulum Monsters that accompanies them. You can even wait until your opponent has played out all their cards for a Synchro or Xyz Summon, then simply prevent them from making that Summon. Nearly every Deck relies on at least one of these kinds of monsters, so Dimensional Barrier winds up being good in any Deck and against any Deck.

Destiny Soldiers are coming soon! Meanwhile, you can add some of these great Invasion: Vengeance cards to your Deck right now!
