HERO Cards!

Save the day! And your Duel with these cards!

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX’s “HERO” monsters have been popular for ages. Both the anime and manga versions of GX had a unique dynamic between Jaden and Aster Phoenix where both of them used the same basic card type, “HERO,” but went about their Duels in completely different ways. No matter whose side you’re on, Duelist Saga brings more HERO goodness to life for the first time!

There has been much ado about Masked HEROes ever since the Hero Strike Structure Deck introduced Masked HERO Dark Law, but before that, Elemental HERO The Shining and Elemental HERO Absolute Zero were in charge of protecting the city! Duelists often went through all three copies of The Shining in a single Duel, which could leave them out of ways to win if the opponent could deal with them all. The new Spell Card Legacy of a HERO helps to plug that leak in the endgame of the old Miracle Fusion-based HERO Deck by returning two Fusion Monsters that list a “HERO” monster as Material to your Extra Deck to let you draw three new cards!

One of the advantages of older HERO Decks is that they used a lot of LIGHT monsters. Between Elemental HERO Neos Alius and Elemental HERO The Shining, you had plenty of monsters compatible with Honest. Honest doesn’t make the cut in HERO Decks these days for two reasons: It’s incompatible with Masked HERO Dark Law and it only helps if your opponent manages to get a monster strong enough to threaten your already big Fusion Monsters, which doesn’t happen often. Elemental HERO Honest Neos solves both of these issues. Discarding it from your hand gives any “HERO” monster a flat 2500 ATK boost until the end of the turn, whether your monster is battling another monster or not. This is particularly useful for direct attacks because it bumps the damage of the Dark Law/Gagaga Samurai combo from 6200 to 8700 damage. That’s enough to be fatal even if you have to attack through a reasonably strong, Attack Position monster.

Aster Phoenix certainly hasn’t been left out of Duelist Saga! In fact, he might have the best HERO of the crop in Vision HERO Vyon. Upon Summoning Vyon, you can send any “HERO” monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, instantly triggering the effects of cards like Elemental HERO Shadow Mist. But that’s not all: you can also banish a “HERO” from your Graveyard each turn to add a copy of Polymerization from your Deck to your hand! On top of all that, Vyon is a DARK “HERO” monster, so it works with Mask Change to get you Masked HERO Dark Law or Masked HERO Anki.

There’s even more HERO goodness where these cards came from! Duelist Saga  is available now.
