Demon Slayer’s ended in Shonen Jump, now what do you read?
It’s rare when a manga ends at the peak of its popularity, but it does happen from time to time. In this day and age of endless sequels, remakes and spinoffs, that can be a shock for some. No one knows what the future will hold, but for now the main story of the Demon Slayer manga has come to a spectacular close. So now what do you read?
We’ll we’ve got some suggestions to fill that Tanjiro-shaped hole in your heart. If you loved Demon Slayer, here are some series that may give you something new to love.
While far more magical than Demon Slayer, this series has its share of demons and no shortage of action. And like Tanjiro, the main character is as pure-hearted as they come, although personality wise, he may have more in common with Inosuke. Black Clover is overflowing with fun, lovable characters, over-the-top magic battles and gorgeous art. And scary demons, too!
Speaking of scary things, the cursed beings in this manga are horrific. If you enjoyed the strong horror elements in Demon Slayer, you’ll really be able to dig this. Another thing this series has in common are the well-written battles. The world of curses and Jujutsu Sorcerers is complex, and like Demon Slayer, it shows in the fights with both good guys and bad guys coming up with intricate strategies to defeat each other.
Talk about world building! Blue Exorcist has been building its incredibly deep world filled with lore and mythology for over a decade. And like Demon Slayer, the world feels incredibly realized and is full of compelling characters each with their own backstory. And there are demons and other terrifying monsters galore! The story also focuses on a pair of cursed siblings trying to overcome their fates.
Bone Collection is the story of a flailing exorcist who encounters a beautiful yokai that turns his life upside down. It’s full of scary monsters, cool fights and fun characters—all things Demon Slayer is famous for. And unlike the other series recommended, it's brand new, so this is the perfect time to get on-board!
