The original Buster Blader was Yugi’s best weapon against Kaiba’s Blue-Eyes White Dragons due to its Dragon-hating power boost. Since its debut back in 2002, however, the number of credible threats and dangerous strategies has grown exponentially, and so Buster Blader has had to evolve as well! Breakers of Shadow introduces Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster, a modern take on Yugi’s classic monster!

Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster counts as Buster Blader on the field and can adapt to any situation. Once an enemy monster is destroyed by either battle or card effect, he can equip it to himself. Then he can send that monster to the Graveyard to destroy every enemy monster with the same Type as the monster that was sent to the Graveyard. Of course, this triggers his first ability again, allowing him to equip one of the destroyed monsters to himself and allowing him to destroy that Type over and over again.

Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster has an array of weapons ready for some of the most common Types you’ll see in Duels. Dragon Buster Destruction Sword equips to Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster or the original Buster Blader and prohibits your opponent from using their Extra Deck while it’s equipped. Wizard Buster Destruction Sword is similar and lets you swap it for a “Destruction Sword” card in your Graveyard. Robot Buster Destruction Sword stops your opponent from using the effects of their face-up Spell/Trap Cards, including cards in the Pendulum Zones. These three swords are a Dragon, a Spellcaster and a Machine, so you can send them to the Graveyard to destroy monsters of those Types!

Originally, Buster Blader was able to fuse with Dark Magician to become Dark Paladin. Now it can fuse with any Dragon on the field, thanks to Destruction Swordsman Fusion, to become Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman! While he’s on the field, your opponent’s Dragons get shifted to defense position and can’t use their effects. Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman also gets double the ATK boost of the original Buster Blader, giving it an extra 1000 ATK and DEF for every Dragon on your opponent’s field or in the Graveyard! Plus, he also deals piercing battle damage, allowing you to quickly win by attacking through your opponent’s Dragons in defense position!
