A summer surprise that has surpassed everyone's expectations!
Based on the success of this movie, it's clear FUNimation has collected the Dragon Balls in real life and made their wish! Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' has blasted past all expectations and secured it's place in history as being one of the biggest anime theatrical movie releases ever. And it only had a limited release! In the short time it's been out, it has made millions of dollars and turned many heads in Hollywood. How? Well, for one it's a Dragon Ball movie which means it has a massive fan base that seems eternally devoted to the cause. But that's not all. The real reason is—it's really good! Word of mouth sells movies and this film has generated an enormous buzz. We sent three brave SJ warriors to watch it in theaters and here is each of their take on the movie.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' is the best Dragon Ball movie yet. The action is top notch and almost every character gets their chance to shine. Even Master Roshi gets in on the fight and shows that he's still got some moves. The first half of the movie finds Goku and Vegeta in a far off galaxy while the other main characters must defend Earth from the resurrected Frieza and his army of thousands. Krillin, Piccolo and Gohan hold their own but the star is clearly Jaco. This galactic patrolman may not be the strongest fighter but he sure makes up for it with moxie and cool poses! And when the Saiyans finally return, the stage is set for the most epic battle ever. And for once, Goku doesn't have an easy time when he unleashes his newest form. The animation is strong but what truly makes this a great movie is the English dialog crafted by the fine folks over at FUNimation. The script is consistently funny and really brings the characters to life. I want to see the movie again just to hear some of Frieza's classic lines. Definitely see this in theaters if you can!

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' will not disappoint! With a great mixture of humor and exhilarating battle scenes, this movie is sure to satisfy the souls of Dragon Ball fans of all ages! Shonen Jump/Akira Toriyama fans will appreciate Krillin's cell phone ringtone set to the One Piece theme song "We Are!" as well as Jaco's appearance in the movie. (if you don't know Jaco, be sure to check it out on vizmanga.com) The movie reveals a bit more about the destructive powers of Beerus and Whis, a couple new characters introduced in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, and leaves us wanting more! Featuring our favorite Z fighters and a familiar villain in Frieza raising their limits to a whole new level (and debuting their new forms), you need to see this!

This is a rare movie that I can say “Has something for everyone.” Well, everyone who is a Dragon Ball fan. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a movie where so many people were hooting and hollering at the screen. And not just at the fights. Beyond the crazy action, which there is a lot of, the one-liners rattled off by various characters, including the villain were actually funny. And not the typical anime humor, which often leans on exaggerated faces for comedic effect, the script was quite clever. Great writing and perfect delivery. And the villain stole the show! Frieza’s known for his cruelty, but not his comedy. Several of the gut busters in the show came from him.
Jaco also got some serious screen time, to which someone near me whispered, “Who’s that guy?” I leaned a back and whispered, “That’s Jaco from SJ! Weekly Shonen Jump is a weekly digital manga magazine published in North America, featuring the most popular manga in the world! You can read heavy-hitters like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and more on the SAME DAY they come out in Japan! And you can read it how you want to—on iOS, Android or anything with a Flash-enabled Internet browser. Plus if you become an annual member, we’ll send you seasonal Yu-Gi-Oh! promo cards in the mail, give you digital gifts and MORE! Become a member today!” And then I got kicked out by the usher. Just kidding! I did say it was Jaco from Shonen Jump and hopefully he’ll look into it and learn more about it. As for the movie, I’d say of all the DBZ movies I’ve seen, it has the best animation and best script by far. It’s definitely a cut above most anime movies. And now a record setter! Congratulations to all involved! My advice is to run out and see this in the theaters before it's gone!
