Yoshiki, leader of the internationally renowned band X Japan, is on tour!
By May 20, 2014

Yoshiki, the leader of the internationally renowned band X Japan, is on tour to promote his latest classical music venture as well as "Hero (Yoshiki Classical Version)," the theme song for the latest Saint Seiya (a.k.a. Knights of the Zodiac) animated movie!

We were lucky that one of his stops was right here in San Francisco and many of us had the chance to attend and experience a true performer at his best (see our testimonial comments below)! And if you're lucky enough to live in one of the cities he'll be visiting, make sure to check him out live in concert!

VIZ MEDIA TESTIMONIALS

I enjoyed every piece of music last night, but especially loved the song "Art of Life." He dedicated this song to former X Japan band members Hide and Taiji, and also his father who passed away. The concert was very emotional, and I felt that his music was full of passion for music and life. He also announced that X Japan will have a live at Madison Square Garden in New York in October!

It was quite an entertaining classical music concert! Even it you're not a huge fan of X Japan, I think you would have enjoyed it. Yoshiki is an extremely talented in many respects—he's an excellent artist and musician, a superb pianist, and quite the entertainer! Honestly, I was quite impressed. And someone was selling Yoshikitty (aHello Kitty plush with Yoshiki's trademark long blond hair and tight rock start outfit)!

I loved the touching tribute to former band members and his father. Also, Toshi appeared as a surprise guest!

The best part was when Toshi ( vocalist for X Japan) was freaking out about the Madison Square announcement. Whoo! Comeback tour! But overall it was amazing to see another side of someone that you thought was a hardcore rock star.  The score that he composed for the Golden Globes was great.

If you're an old X Japan fan, you will cry with joy to see his new style as a classical pianist. We all experienced both the sad and happy moments of his life together!

It was wonderful! Our seats were close to the stage and the music was beautiful. I am glad that he has made a transition from rock to classical music. My only regret is that I was unable to stay for the whole show. I hope Yoshiki's endeavor continues to be successful.

The concert was so beautiful—totally not what I was expecting. It's clear to see that Yoshiki is a deep, emotional and passionate artist who cares not only about his music, but about his fans. One of the things that really stood out to me was when we saw the surprise appearance by Toshi, the vocalist of X-Japan. Seeing and hearing Yoshiki's musical journey through the years was an experience I won't soon forget. Can't wait for the X-Japan reunion at Madison Square Garden!
