It’s like Skynet on August 4th, 1997, in Idol Dreams, Vol 5.
Omedetou, Chikage. You’ve overcome your past.
In volume 5 Deguchi solves her own problems and becomes a confidante to both Tokita and Hanami. Rather than obsessing over her own character flaws as she has done in the past, she starts acting on the behalf of others and grows as a person. She becomes self-aware.
I loved learning about Tokita’s past. When he admitted to Chikage that he felt like crying I was moved. I found a lot in this volume moving.
Idol Dreams is one of those manga that makes me think, “I have no idea where this is going! PLEASE do not go in that direction... Okay, that’s really good! Oh no, what now?!” But I really enjoy reading about the adult Chikage so very much.
I also adore her twirls, spins, and dance moves at precisely the right moment.
