Level 4 and lower monsters that have 2000 or more ATK usually come with some nasty fine print that makes you think twice about playing them. Photon monsters break the mold in more ways than one, offering rewards instead of consequences for playing with incredibly powerful low-Level monsters!

Photon Thrasher is the poster boy for awesome Level 4 monsters with more than 2000 ATK. Clocking in at a cool 2100, you can Special Summon Photon Thrasher if you don’t control any monsters. Unlike Cyber Dragon and other similar cards, your opponent doesn’t need to have any monsters, so you can throw down Photon Thrasher and go to town on your opponent’s Life Points!

Photon Sabre Tiger does a good job at hiding it’s true strength until it’s too late for your opponent. It’s a Level 3 monster with 2000 ATK, but it loses 800 if it's the only Photon Sabre Tiger. However, it also lets you add another Photon Sabre Tiger to your hand when you Summon it! What’s the best way to keep this Beast-Type monster on the board until its friend can join in? Horn of the Phantom Beast! It’s a Trap that can pump up your Beast by 800 ATK, and it lets you draw a card every time the monster it’s attached to wins a fight.

If low-Level monsters just aren’t doing it for you, you can Tribute 2 monsters with 2000 or more ATK to Special Summon the 3000 ATK Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon! Galaxy-Eyes cannot be defeated in a straight up fight thanks to its ability to leap sideways in space and time along with the monster it battles. Both monsters return to the here and now at the end of the Battle Phase, sans any Xyz Materials that might have been on the opposing monster, and Galaxy-Eyes gains ATK for each Xyz Material that was lost!

You might look at a 2100 ATK Level 4 monster and say “Sure, that’s all well and good, but how can I beat Stardust Dragon?” The answer is Photon Trident. It’s a Quick-Play Spell that pumps up any Photon monster by 700. Plus it makes a Photon monster's attack so devastating that it'll blow away an opposing Spell or Trap Card when they deal damage!
