Fill up your hand with this very useful card!
Seto Kaiba’s Dueling style is well known for its unrelenting tide of powerful monsters, headlined by his Blue-Eyes White Dragons. If they fall, he brings them back. If they somehow aren’t strong enough, he fuses them together to make them strong enough. And if he runs out of cards to play, he draws some more with Card of Demise!
First appearing on American airwaves in 2004 during Kaiba’s Duel against Yugi in the Battle City Finals, Card of Demise has been on Duelists’ wish lists ever since. Its real life incarnation lets you draw until you have 3 cards in your hand as long as you send your whole hand to the Graveyard during the End Phase. Your opponent takes no damage during the turn you play Card of Demise, and you can’t Special Summon and use Card of Demise in the same turn.
To make the most out of Card of Demise, you’ll want to Set as many Spell and Trap Cards as you can first to empty out your hand and Summon a monster if you need to. Pendulum Monsters are useful to have too because you can activate them as Spells in your Pendulum Zones to get them out of your hand, and you were probably going to do that anyways! Once you’ve gotten your hand size as low as you can, use Card of Demise to fill it back up and play as many of the new cards you’ve drawn as possible!
Decks that use lots of powerful Trap Cards are the ones that benefit the most from Card of Demise, especially Decks based around Counter Traps. Because so many things are possible during each player’s turn, you tend to go through your Counter Traps really quickly. Having Bountiful Artemis can let you draw a card to replace each of them, but having Card of Demise can help you to draw Bountiful Artemis in the first place or just get enough Traps to counter your opponent’s onslaught!
Card of Demise will be available as part of the Millennium Pack, which launches on April 15th, 2016!
