Animation Marketing Manager

VIZ Media is looking for a Animation Marketing Manager to join our Animation team!

  • Demonstrated past success in ownership of marketing campaigns from design to execution to reporting A MUST

  • Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Professional understanding of the entertainment market targeted at teen boys and 18 – 34 males STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Experience with 3rd party AD Networks PREFERRED

SUMMARY

The Animation Marketing Manager plans, organizes, and manages consumer facing marketing campaigns for all VIZ Media animation product categories (DVD & Digital) with a strict emphasis on ROI.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  1. Responsible for the planning and execution of consumer facing marketing programs designed to drive sales of VIZ Media’s animation products (DVD and Digital)
  2. Represents VIZ Media animation products, including speaking on panels and participating in interviews
  3. Works closely with the VP of Animation to manage annual marketing budgets and spends
  4. Responsible for developing and implementing high ROI online marketing campaigns leveraging social media and other online marketing vehicles
  5. Monitors, reviews, and optimizes campaigns by developing in-depth understanding of key performance drivers
  6. Manages day-to-day progress of marketing planning and execution
  7. Maintains brand integrity across animation product lines, advertising, and all other internal and external communication as it pertains to assigned property
  8. Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas including: sales, production, marketing, design, and operations to execute specific marketing plans for each assigned title
  9. Prepares marketing objectives and schedules for all phases of product solicitation and introduction to market, including but not limited to sales materials and retail presentations.
  10. Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends in company's industry
  11. Manages 3rd party relationships with external marketing partners
  12. Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors
  13. Develops monthly, quarterly, & annual ROI reports for senior management
  14. Participates in key sales and marketing presentations

In addition to these responsibilities, performs other activities as assigned

MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills A MUST
  • Strong analytical framework and skill set A MUST
  • Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Professional understanding of the entertainment market targeted at teen boys and 18 – 34 males STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Experience with 3rd party AD Networks PREFERRED
  • Proficiency with computer usage, including email, Internet, and standard software
  • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with culturally diverse clients, providers, and staff
  • Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork
  • Ability to work legally in the United States
  • Ability to live in/commute to the San Francisco Bay Area
  • MUST be able to travel as needed

MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

  • 5-7 years of relevant business experience
  • Demonstrated past success in ownership of marketing campaigns from design to execution to reporting A MUST
  • Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise others, but may give guidance to the work of interns and freelancers.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 90% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 15 pounds, kneeling, bending. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers and faxes. Must be able to travel occasionally as needed.

As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. OTHER INFORMATION

Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
