The first big booster set of the 2016-17 season, The Dark Illusion, is still a couple months away, but you can stock up on the greatest hits from Shining Victories and grab some early preview cards from The Dark Illusion starting next week when Shining Victories Special Edition hits shelves!

While Shining Victories was packed with cards to buff up Blue-Eyes White Dragon, The Dark Illusion focuses more on Dark Magician instead. Just like the rest of the throwback themes from the last four booster sets, the cards in The Dark Illusion will work even better if you’re playing with the original Dark Magician as opposed to any retrains or alternate versions. To help you Summon Dark Magician even faster, Shining Victories Special Edition gives you another shot to get your hands on Ebon Illusion Magician!

Ebon Illusion Magician is a Rank 7 Xyz Monster Summoned using any two Level 7 monsters as Xyz Material or by using a Rank 6 Spellcaster-Type Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material instead. You can detach one Xyz Material each turn during your Main Phase to Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type Normal Monster from your hand or Deck. Dark Magician is the go-to choice, and each time you attack with a Spellcaster-Type Normal Monster, Ebon Illusion Magician will banish a card your opponent controls!

Use it to banish the attack target so that you can attack directly or to eliminate hard to destroy Spell/Trap Cards or Pendulum Monster Cards. Either way, Ebon Illusion Magician is always a great monster to Summon from your Extra Deck because you’ll always wind up with the same number of monsters that you started with! Two Level 7 monsters become one Rank 7 monster with same stats as Dark Magician and one actual Dark Magician, while your opponent is going to lose their best card when you attack!

Ebon Illusion Magician isn’t the only great card you might get your hands on in Shining Victories Special Edition! Elemental HERO Core is another possibility, and you’ll also get one of two preview cards from The Dark Illusion!
