Glow-Up Bulb!

Remember this blast-from-the-past card? Time sure flies when you "Glow-Up"!

As summer becomes fall and September ticks over into October, big changes are afoot in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG!  The latest quarterly update to the Forbidden & Limited Cards list is now in effect, and with it comes the return of one of the top Tuner monsters of all time! If you’re looking to add some Synchro Summoning power to your Deck, give Glow-Up Bulb a try!

Glow-Up Bulb is a Level 1 Plant-Type Tuner monster with the ability to send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard and Special Summon itself from your Graveyard once per Duel. As a result, it’s one of the most easily accessible Tuner monsters in the entire game. You can draw and Normal Summon it, you can toss it in the Graveyard with a card effect and then bring it back with its own effect, or you can Special Summon it straight from your Deck with a card like One for One or Lonefire Blossom. Other strategies have it even easier than that. For example, Sylvan Decks can also Special Summon it straight from their Deck with the effect of Sylvan Cherubsprout and can essentially rearrange their Decks at will to make sure this happens.

Thanks to Glow-Up Bulb’s special ability, even Decks that only use monsters with one or two different Levels can gain access to a wide variety of powerful Synchro Monsters. For example, if you use primarily Level 4 monsters, Glow-Up Bulb first gives you access to great Level 5 Synchro Monsters like Armades, Keeper of Boundaries. But if a Level 5 Synchro isn’t enough to get you out of a jam, you can bring the Bulb right back and upgrade that Level 5 Synchro Monster into a Level 6 Synchro Monster like Goyo Guardian! The same goes for higher Levels as well. Strong Level 6 monsters like Monarchs or Jinzo can first be used to Synchro Summon a Level 7 monster, and then the Level 7 monster and Glow-Up Bulb can be used to Synchro Summon a Level 8 monster like Stardust Dragon.

Alternatively, if you have two monsters on the field when you Summon Glow-Up Bulb, you can turn both of them into Synchro Monsters. Let’s say you’re using the new Satellarknights from Duelist Alliance and have Satellarknight Altair and Satellarknight Vega. You can Normal Summon Glow-Up Bulb, Synchro Summon T.G. Hyper Librarian with one of your Satellarknights, then bring back the Bulb and Synchro Summon Armades, Keeper of Boundaries with the other Satellarknight while drawing a card with Hyper Librarian's effect. Alternatively, you can use all three monsters to Synchro Summon Mist Wurm to clear away cards from your opponent’s field, then bring back the Bulb and upgrade your Wurm into Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree—a 3100 ATK Level 10 Synchro Monster!

Glow-Up Bulb is a very hard to find old card that was only released in Starstrike Blast, but it’s finally getting a new lease on life when Legendary Collection 5D’s launches on the October 17! It’s one of the cards you might get in one of your Legendary Collection 5D’s Mega-Packs, along with a huge variety of different Synchro Monsters. In fact, every Legendary Collection already comes with two of the most legendary Synchro Monsters from that era: Shooting Quasar Dragon and Black Rose Dragon. You won’t want to miss it!

Add to your collection and make it truly legendary with Legendary Collection 5D's, in stores October 24!
